Booking Terms & Conditions
Upon receiving this contract fully filled out and signed, the Diamond Strings Quartet (DSQ) will reserve CLIENT'S event date and time on the DSQ calendar.
50% of the overall cost is due with the signing of the contract as a non-refundable down-payment. The remaining 50% (plus any additional fees as required, discussed, and agreed upon by both parties) is DUE IN FULL THE DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE, unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties.
Payments may be made via credit/debit card, Paypal, or check. If by check, CLIENT will designate someone to hand DSQ the check upon arrival, while DSQ is performing, or immediately following the conclusion of DSQ's performance. The check will be made payable to JILLENE SMITH.
If any part of CLIENT'S event is outdoor, CLIENT agrees to provide proper shading and protection from the elements in order to avoid the damaging of DSQ instruments. In the case in inclement weather that would risk damage to instruments, DSQ cannot perform without proper protection from rain, snow, sun, severe cold, or other damaging elements.
DSQ will allow as many musical requests from CLIENT, providing the requests are within the Sample Reqpertoire as displayed on the DSQ Repertoire page. If any requests are outside of the standard repretoire, there may be a fee of $50 per request assessed or an hourly rate assesed if a special arrangement is required. If further explanation is required regarding these terms, CLIENT will contact DSQ.
Setup and Spacing Requirements:
CLIENT agrees to provide four armless chairs that are set up wherever DSQ is to perform. CLIENT will ensure that there is ample space for four musicians and four music stands.
There is no penalty or fee for cancelling more than 90 days in advance. If CLIENT decides to cancel this contract within 90 days of the event, a fee of half the total due will be assessed. If cancellation occurs within 10 days of the event, the full amount will be required.
Reducing Performance Time:
No penalty or fee will be assessed for a reduction of performance time if it is requested more than 90 days prior to the event. If CLIENT requests a reduction of performance time within 90 days of the event, a fee will be charged equal to half of the hourly rate for the time that was reduced. If time reduction occurs within 10 days of the event, the total amount for the originally booked time, regardless of the time reduction, will still be required. There is no penalty for increasing performance time. DSQ may be asked to perform additional time beyond the contracted time period, even on the day of the event, with no penalty; CLIENT agrees to compensate any extra time according to the hourly rate written in this contract. DSQ will not be obligated to perform the extra time if it does not work in DSQ's schedule.
It is solely the CLIENT'S responsibility to provide detailed performance specifications, including but not limited to when to start playing, when to stop playing, what pieces and when to play them if specific requests are necessary, where to perform, etc. CLIENT will appoint a person from CLIENT'S party to clearly communicate specifications to DSQ and to cue DSQ if necessary. If no special requests are made, DSQ will select a mix of pieces from among the DSQ repertoire.
DSQ is a standard string quartet--this includes four musicians, namely two violins, viola, and cello. DSQ reserves the right to substitute comparable performers if original DSQ members are unavailable. Performers require a ten minute break for every hour performed.
